Africa-Press – Uganda. Leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mityana District have launched a district-wide mobilization campaign aimed at sensitizing residents about key achievements of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government, as outlined in the party manifesto.
The initiative is spearheaded by Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Judith Nabakooba, who is also the NRM flag bearer for the Mityana District Woman MP seat.
The campaign will cover all subcounties and town councils across the district.
“We are moving village by village to explain the real achievements of the NRM government,” Nabakooba said.
“Much has been done under President Museveni, from improving roads and electricity to enhancing education and health services, but many people remain unaware due to misinformation from the opposition.”
She emphasized that the campaign aims not only to highlight government successes but also to address residents’ concerns.
“This is not just about politics; it’s about accountability. We want to listen to the people, understand their challenges, and share what the government is doing to solve them,” she added.
Mobilization teams are engaging local leaders, opinion heads, youth, and women’s groups, while also showcasing flagship government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and other poverty reduction initiatives.
NRM Vice District Chairperson and Mityana North MP, Muhammed Kibedi, noted that the campaign will remind residents that development is a continuous process requiring unity and patience.
“We urge our people to remain focused and supportive of the NRM because the government’s efforts are visible. From improved infrastructure to empowerment programs, Mityana has benefited greatly, and more is yet to come,” Kibedi said.
Party leaders accused opposition politicians of spreading “baseless propaganda” aimed at discrediting government projects for political gain. Esther Ndyanabo, the Mityana Municipality NRM flag bearer, urged residents to verify information before accepting claims.
“Some opposition groups have made it their job to mislead Ugandans, but the truth is clear — the NRM continues to deliver on its promises,” she said.
The campaign is expected to run for several weeks, culminating in community meetings where residents will be encouraged to share their experiences with government programs and suggest areas for improvement.
“Our goal is to build trust through transparency and dialogue,” Nabakooba said.
“When people know the facts, they make better decisions for their future and for Uganda’s continued progress.”
The mobilization comes as political activity intensifies in Mityana ahead of the 2026 general elections, with both the ruling party and opposition ramping up efforts to win over voters.
