Africa-Press – Uganda. The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has today unveiled the official campaign portrait for its presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The portrait was launched by the NRM first National Vice Chairman Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo and the second national vice chairperson, Rebecca Kadaga during a function held at the NRM headquarters at Plot 10, Kyadondo in Kampala.
“This(portrait) is what we are to use throughout the entire elections. We have reached where we are because of the way we have ben working. We respect the citizens because they have supported us since we came to power. We have opened up a new chapter, going back to the drawing board to see how we are going to start afresh,” Kigongo said.
“We request Ugandans to support NRM as we renew our mandate for another five years. It was not I am appealing to all of you to go back to our methods of work in NRM.”
NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong spoke about the significance of the function.
“We are a party that doesn’t compete with anybody but with issues. We have gained by far in all sectors. We can speak about peace, infrastructure, health agriculture and security and each and every indicator for socio economic transformation.
There are things about NRM that you cant see when you are crowded with mediocrity. NRM is a party of the people and gets its mandate from the people.The just concluded primaries gave us over 2 million leaders that no other party can match. No political party in our country can sponsor candidates from village level to the highest level, apart from the mighty NRM.”
Theme
During the same function, the ruling NRM party launched the theme for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
“For every season we go for, there is always a theme we take and this season, we are focusing on protecting the gains as we make a qualitative leap into high middle-income status. We have gained, have to protect the gains and make a leap into the high middle income status. This is what we shall market to Ugandans as we go into the 2026 elections,” NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong said.
At the same function, the Senior Presidential Advisor in-charge of Political Mobilization, Mr. Moses Byaruhanga announced that a committee is finalising the NRM 2026- 2031 manifesto which will soon be unveiled to the members of the public.
“The manifesto is detailing what we have achieved in the last five years as we seek to protect the gains and make a qualitative leap into high middle income status.We are about to complete the manifesto and after nominations, we shall launch it to Ugandans
The NRM director for information and publicity, Emmanuel Dombo said with the unveiling of the official poster, it will now be made popular.
“It means this is a brand that for whatever we do, posters, t-shirts and caps we make, this will be the official brand of the National Resistance Movement,” said Dombo.
