Africa-Press – Uganda. The National Unity Platform (NUP) has commenced its party vetting process, marking a crucial step in the selection of candidates for the 2026 general elections.
The vetting process, which starts today, will determine which candidates will receive the NUP party ticket.
According to Hajj Latif Ssebagala, a senior NUP official, the party ticket is obtained through a rigorous process that involves both vetting and field assessment.
“There is no NUP member who doesn’t know how the party ticket is obtained it’s through a process of 40% vetting and 60% field,” Ssebagala explained.
The NUP Electoral Management Committee will oversee the vetting process, which is expected to be transparent and fair.
The committee will assess candidates based on their qualifications, experience, and popularity on the ground.
The NUP vetting process is a critical step in the party’s preparations for the 2026 general elections.
