Africa-Press – Uganda. Lina Zedriga, the vice-president of the National Unity Platform for Northern Uganda, on Thursday appeared before the Gulu Magistrates Court, where she was remanded to prison pending further investigations into charges that are yet to be fully disclosed by the prosecution.

Zedriga, 68, was presented in court but was not allowed to take plea after prosecutors informed the court that investigations into the matter were still ongoing.

The magistrate ordered that she be remanded until February 17, 2026, when she is expected to return to court for mention of the case.

Her appearance comes as opposition figures continue to face increased legal pressure, with several leaders and activists in recent months being summoned, arrested, or arraigned before court as political tensions intensify ahead of key political milestones.

Zedriga becomes the latest senior member of the opposition to be brought before court, a development that is likely to draw renewed scrutiny from rights groups and political observers monitoring the treatment of opposition actors in the country.
