Hardly two days after being appointed the new Registrar General at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, Rotarian Mercy Kainobwisho has become the latest victim of online crooks who opened up an Instagram account in her name and use it to con people.
On Wednesday (December 9, 2020), Kainobwisho warned the public of the fake Instagram account. “A fake Instagram account opened in my name and asking people for money that I am stuck somewhere in Mombasa. Kindly do not fall for online robbers. My Instagram account has more content and different picture. Beware,” Kainobwisho said.She will not be the first person whose account has been pirated and either used to con gullible members of the public.
