Africa-Press – Uganda. The Rotary Club of Masaka, in partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Masaka, has shared Christmas and New Year packages with children at Nazareth Children’s Home in Nyendo, bringing cheer and relief to vulnerable children during the 2025 festive season.
The clubs donated assorted essential items, including sugar, soap, cooking oil, rice, matooke, clothing, and other household necessities to support the children’s day-to-day welfare.
The donation ensured that the children were able to celebrate the festive season with smiles and a sense of belonging.
Speaking during the handover, the President of the Rotary Club of Masaka, Madrine Namayengo, said the club has consistently supported Nazareth Children’s Home for more than 30 years during the Christmas and New Year period.
She said many of the children were abandoned at a very young age and lack parental care, yet they deserve love, dignity, and happiness like all other children.
The Administrator of Nazareth Children’s Home in Nyendo-Kayirikiti, Andrew Kinsambwe, commended Rotary and Inner Wheel for their continued generosity and compassion towards the children.
He revealed that he is himself a former beneficiary of the home and credited his success in life to the care and support he received there.
However, Kinsambwe also highlighted the challenges the home faces in meeting the children’s basic needs, including education, healthcare, and daily upkeep.
Nazareth Children’s Home currently shelters 35 children who were rescued from the streets after being abandoned.
The children, aged between two and 20 years, are supported with education in various schools.
The home largely depends on small-scale income-generating activities such as farming and animal rearing, alongside limited donations from well-wishers.
Despite these efforts, the institution continues to face financial constraints and has appealed for additional support to ensure sustainable care for the children.
