The Bank of Uganda has ramped up its efforts to mobilize participants for the Town Hall Meeting taking place on Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Hotel Africana, Moroto.

The initiative, aimed at engaging the people of Karamoja, has reached the outskirts of Moroto, drawing large crowds through a vibrant outreach campaign.

Professional skateboarders from Clear Level, led by Brian Skater, energized the community with a thrilling display of skateboarding on tarmac and marrum roads.

The team performed in various areas, including Singila, Natumkaskou, and Acholi Inn, before returning to the town center, captivating locals and raising awareness for the upcoming event.

A digital truck, equipped with wide screens and powerful speakers, also made its rounds through Moroto municipality, broadcasting key information about the Town Hall Meeting.

Brian Skater, who led the skateboarding effort, shared his excitement about the campaign’s unique approach.

“It’s amazing to see huge crowds gather to watch us skate while also receiving the key messages about the Town Hall Meeting. We are glad to be part of this mobilization effort,” he said.

Jonah Waiswa, Bank of Uganda’s head of stakeholder engagements, confirmed that preparations for the event were finalised and expressed optimism about the engagement.

“We are ready to host the people of Karamoja for a discussion on the Central Bank’s mandate, its role in Uganda’s economic transformation, and how we can work together to improve financial literacy and inclusion,” Waiswa said.

The two-day event will commence with a public forum on March 5, followed by a leadership-focused discussion on March 6.

The theme of the event is: “Understanding the Role of Bank of Uganda in Socioeconomic Transformation.”
