Africa-Press – Uganda. Brig Gen Emmanuel Rwashande has accused long-serving Lwemiyaga County MP, Theodore Ssekikubo of obstructing development in the area throughout his 25-year tenure.
Appearing on Sanyuka Television on Tuesday, Rwashande claimed that voters in the recent NRM primaries chose him over Ssekikubo because they were ready for a change in leadership that could bring tangible progress.
“Tell me, has there ever been a day when Ssekikubo called his friends or partners to come and build even a single school in Lwemiyaga? He hasn’t done anything for the people,” Rwashande said.
“The mission is to remove Ssekikubo because he is the problem. There has been no development in the area. He has been an MP for 25 years but has failed to deliver any meaningful progress,” he added.
Rwashande, a retired one-star general, defeated the incumbent MP in the recently concluded NRM party primaries with 54.3% of the vote, signaling a significant political shift in Sembabule District.
However, Ssekikubo has contested the results and filed a petition with the Electoral Commission, alleging widespread irregularities during the election.
The legislator cited voter intimidation, military interference, and result manipulation as grounds for challenging Rwashande’s victory.
