Africa-Press – Uganda. The Kayunga District Secondary Schools Sports Association football competitions have concluded, with St Mark High School and Hopeful Future Secondary School emerging champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.
The finals attracted participation from 28 secondary schools across Kayunga District, showcasing exciting football talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
St Mark High School secured the boys’ trophy after a strong performance throughout the tournament, edging former champions Namagabi Secondary School 11–10 in a dramatic penalty shootout. Meanwhile, Hopeful Future Secondary School triumphed in the girls’ competition to claim the championship.
Simon Kintu, the General Secretary of the Kayunga District Secondary Schools Sports Association, praised the teams for their discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship displayed during the competition.
The top six schools qualified for the zonal championships, scheduled to take place from the 15th to the 19th of this month.
The tournament is part of the district’s broader efforts to promote sports development and identify young football talent in secondary schools.
School administrators and district sports officials congratulated the winners and encouraged other schools to continue participating in co-curricular activities to nurture talent and promote holistic student development.
