Africa-Press – Uganda. In today’s rapidly evolving business world, very few individuals manage to excel in multiple fields while staying committed to creating real, lasting change.

One such individual is Sulaiman Bukenya, the Chairman of Uganda Online Investments Ltd and Director of Uganda Online Media (UOM).

A true trailblazer, Bukenya has not only transformed Uganda’s media landscape but has also made significant strides across the fields of electronics, hospitality, real estate, and agro-processing.

His ventures are deeply rooted in innovation, and his commitment to uplifting his community has made him a leader who combines business acumen with a passion for social change.

In a world that often separates business from social responsibility, Bukenya is a refreshing reminder that success and compassion can go hand in hand.

Whether he’s building digital platforms to promote national pride or launching groundbreaking initiatives in real estate and electronics, Bukenya’s approach is always focused on long-term impact and improving the lives of those around him.

His story is not just one of personal triumph but a powerful example of how innovation, passion, and a commitment to the greater good can change the trajectory of an entire nation.

In this interview he speaks about his journey and vision behind his multifaceted business empire, and his unwavering dedication to making Uganda a better place for all.

What sparked your journey?

It all stems from my deep-rooted love for Uganda. I’ve always believed that Uganda has so much to offer, but for the longest time, we weren’t telling our own stories. Our successes, our cultural heritage, our innovations and so much was being overlooked. That’s what inspired me to create Uganda Online Media (UOM). I wanted to use the power of digital platforms to highlight Uganda’s triumphs, celebrate our heroes, and foster a sense of national pride.

At the same time, I saw an opportunity to contribute to Uganda’s economic development. That’s where Uganda Online Investments Ltd comes in. Through this venture, we’re focusing on providing world-class services in real estate, electronics, and hospitality, all while prioritizing sustainability and social impact. For me, business isn’t just about profit, it’s about building something meaningful that will last and create opportunities for others.

How has UOM contributed to changing the media landscape in Uganda?

The impact has been profound. Through Uganda Online Media, we’ve been able to create a platform that doesn’t just inform but uplifts. Our weekly digital magazines, for instance, have been key in promoting Uganda’s achievements, from economic growth to cultural preservation. We’ve tapped into the power of digital media to foster a sense of unity and patriotism among Ugandans, both at home and abroad. In a time where negative news often dominates the headlines, I wanted to shift the narrative and remind people of what makes Uganda great.

I believe that media has an incredible power to shape public opinion and inspire action. That’s why UOM is so focused on telling Uganda’s untold stories and showing the world that our nation is filled with potential. I’ve always said that the more we celebrate our successes, the more we inspire the next generation to believe in themselves and in our country.

Through Uganda Online Media, we are shaping narratives and reminding Ugandans of their collective strength and potential. It’s not just about sharing news, it’s about building national pride.

What is Uganda Online Investments Ltd?

Uganda Online Investments Ltd is focused on delivering excellence across several key sectors. In real estate, we’re developing properties that are not only modern and luxurious but also sustainable and functional. We understand that the needs of Ugandans are changing, and we want to meet those needs with innovative solutions. In electronics, we’ve introduced cutting-edge products that elevate everyday lifestyles. In hospitality, we focus on creating unforgettable experiences with a touch of Ugandan warmth and hospitality.

One of the areas I’m particularly passionate about is agro-processing. By adding value to locally produced goods, we’re helping to stimulate Uganda’s agricultural sector and support rural communities. Our goal is to create sustainable businesses that benefit not only our customers but also the broader economy.

I believe that the true mark of a successful business is not just profit, but the positive impact it has on the community and the country as a whole.

Speak about giving back to society

Philanthropy is at the heart of everything I do. I’ve always believed that true success is measured by how many people you lift up along the way. One initiative that’s very close to my heart is our recent work in Kamwokya and Mulimira Zone. We provided food supplies, clothing, and financial assistance to children and families in need, but it wasn’t just about giving them material things. We wanted to empower them to create a sustainable future for themselves. That’s why we also provided start-up capital to help these children and their families establish small businesses. It’s about giving them the tools they need to thrive.

I’m also heavily involved in promoting Uganda’s cultural heritage through initiatives like Miss Tourism Buganda and the Buganda Expo. These projects are important because they highlight the richness of our culture and encourage tourism, which is a vital part of our economy. For me, giving back isn’t just about charity, it’s about empowerment and creating opportunities that have a lasting impact.

Giving back is about more than just charity but about empowering others to create their own success stories.

As a leader in business and media, what’s your vision for Uganda’s future?

Uganda is a country full of untapped potential, and I believe that we’re on the brink of something truly extraordinary. My vision is for Uganda to become a global leader in innovation, culture, and business. But for that to happen, we need to invest in our people, our industries, and our infrastructure. We also need to protect and celebrate our cultural heritage because that’s what sets us apart.

I see a future where sustainability is at the core of everything we do, where businesses contribute not just to their bottom line but to the well-being of the country. I want to be part of a Uganda where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to succeed. My mission is to help build that future by continuing to innovate, inspire, and empower.

The future of Uganda is bright, but it’s up to all of us to build it. Together, we can create a country that thrives on innovation, culture, and compassion.
