Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda Airlines has appealed to its passengers for patience and understanding as it faces operational challenges that may result in flight delays in the coming days.
The warning follows an incident last week in which several passengers were stranded in Dar es Salaam for over 24 hours after the airline was unable to provide an available plane for their scheduled flight.
The situation drew attention after it was revealed that President Museveni had taken a Uganda Airlines Airbus for his two-day official visit to South Sudan.
However, the airline later denied claims that the President’s travel was responsible for the delays in Dar, stating that the operational issues were unrelated.
In a travel notice issued, the national carrier acknowledged the current challenges and reassured passengers that it is doing everything possible to return to its normal flight schedules.
“Due to unforeseen operational reasons, some of our scheduled flights may experience delays,” the airline said in a statement.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are making every effort to return to our normal schedules as soon as possible,” the airline stated.
The airline further emphasized its commitment to keeping affected passengers informed and advised them to reach out to the Global Call Centre at (+256) 200 406 400 for the latest updates on their travel plans.
The delay has raised concerns about the airline’s ability to effectively manage its resources, particularly during periods of high-demand, such as presidential travel.
Passengers have expressed frustration over the lack of communication during the extended wait in Dar es Salaam.
Despite these challenges, Uganda Airlines remains focused on enhancing its service delivery and operational efficiency as it continues to expand its footprint within the region.
Passengers are urged to stay updated on any changes to their flight schedules and to contact the airline for assistance as necessary.
As of April 2025, Uganda Airlines operates a fleet of six aircraft, consisting of four Bombardier CRJ900ER jets and two Airbus A330-800neo aircraft.
Additionally, the airline utilizes an Airbus A320-200, which is wet-leased from South Africa’s Global Airways.
Uganda Airlines is also in the process of expanding its fleet, with plans to add more aircraft, including Airbus A320neo and Boeing 787-9 models.
