Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda will, October 8, 2025, celebrate its National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, with a series of events highlighting the country’s economic potential, cultural diversity, and growing partnership with Japan and the global community.

The celebration, taking place under the Expo’s overarching theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” will feature business, cultural, and diplomatic engagements aimed at showcasing Uganda as a destination for trade, investment, and tourism.

The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, is leading the Ugandan delegation, which includes senior government officials, diplomats, and private sector representatives.

Uganda’s participation at the Expo is being coordinated by the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) in collaboration with the Embassy of Uganda in Japan.

Speaking ahead of the National Day celebrations, Hez Kimoomi Alinda, Executive Director of UFZEPA, said the event provides a timely platform for Uganda to deepen its global economic ties.

“Through National Day, Uganda will highlight its development priorities, share its cultural heritage, and demonstrate its readiness to work with partners to achieve mutual growth and prosperity,” Alinda said.

The National Day programme will be held at the National Day Hall at the Expo site, beginning with an address by Prime Minister Nabbanja and remarks from Japanese officials. The ceremony will include cultural performances, giving visitors a taste of Uganda’s artistic creativity and heritage.

Following the celebrations, guests will take part in an official tour of the Uganda and Japan pavilions, symbolizing the spirit of partnership and exchange.

The day will conclude with a business dinner at the Expo Guest House, providing an opportunity for networking between Ugandan and Japanese investors and policy leaders.

Uganda’s Pavilion, located in Commons A, has been open since April 2025, when the Expo began. The Pavilion showcases Uganda’s transformation agenda, emphasizing industrialization, export growth, innovation, and tourism.

Ahead of the National Day, Uganda’s delegation also met with the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 7, where discussions centered on advancing trade and investment cooperation between Ugandan and Japanese enterprises.

After the Expo, Prime Minister Nabbanja is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan in Tokyo on October 9, 2025, to discuss strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, and development.

Uganda’s participation in Expo 2025 is guided by the sub-theme “Empowering Lives,” which aligns with the country’s long-term goals under Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV (NDP IV), focused on inclusive and sustainable prosperity driven by trade, industrial growth, and innovation.

As the Expo, which opened in April, draws to a close on October 13, Uganda’s presence stands out as a testament to its growing global engagement and ambition to position itself as a competitive, export-led economy and a reliable partner in international cooperation.
