Uganda’s police chief has said the country has space in its prisons to cope with any spike in arrests during next week’s presidential elections.

The warning comes during a campaign, marked by deadly violence and the arrest of several opposition candidates for holding rallies in breach of Covid restrictions. We are in the capital Kampala and have been talking to the country’s president. –
