KAMPALA – Nine COVID-19 deaths were reported between December 19, 2020 and January 1, 2021, the Ministry of Health has announced.While releasing test results of Covid-19 tests done on January 1, 2021 the Ministry noted they had tested samples of those who had passed on and confirmed.Notable among the deaths registered is that of former Deputy Prime Minister Paul Etyang who died on Friday.The Ministry also announced 201 new cases of Covid-19.”Results of COVID-19 tests done on January 1, 2021 confirm 201 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases are 35,712,” the statement indicated.The breakdown of the new cases are, Kampala (134), Mukono (27), Mbale (8), Jinja (6), Wakiso (8), Kalaki (5), Kapchorwa (3), Mbarara (2), Gulu (2), Ibanda (1), Soroti (1), Yumbe (1), Masaka (1) and Luwero (1).One truck driver tested positive for covid-19 in Malabar.
