Africa-Press – Uganda. The second edition of the National E-Mobility Expo has officially been launched and will be held from 18th–19th September 2025, under the theme “Powering Innovation, Accelerating Industrialization and Shaping Africa’s Green Future.” The launch event took place at the Next Media Park in Naguru, the home to NBS TV.
The Expo is a collaborative effort aimed at driving momentum behind Uganda’s transition to electric mobility.
Irene Birungi Mugisha, CEO of the Presidential CEO Forum (PCF), highlighted the Forum’s role in championing e-mobility by hosting the Technical Committee that directly contributes to the national strategy on E-mobility. This advocacy has already yielded notable wins, including policy interventions like the VAT exemption on electric vehicles.
Development partners, including the European Union, Enabel, and GIZ, expressed their continued support, especially in capacity building through vocational training for technicians to support the E-mobility sector. Kampala’s city development strategies are also aligning with e-mobility as a central pillar for reducing pollution and promoting inclusive growth.
The Guest of Honour, Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero, emphasized Uganda’s strategic positioning within both the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions. The government has now firmly placed Science, Technology, and Innovation at the center of national development planning under NDP IV.
Next Media’s Group CEO Kin Kariisa urged more Ugandans to visit Kiira Motors and witness firsthand the progress made, reinforcing the importance of sensitizing the public about green alternatives.
The 2025 Expo is expected to attract key players across industry, government, and development partners to accelerate the shift toward a cleaner, smarter, and more industrialized Uganda.
