Africa-Press – Uganda. The upcoming 10th Edition of the Alur Cultural Festival will focus on promoting unity through cultural diversity, with organisers highlighting the event as a platform to strengthen social cohesion and preserve Alur heritage.
Scheduled for December 7, 2025, at Millennium Grounds in Nebbi District, the festival will run under the theme “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Alur Heritage.”
Speaking at a press briefing, the Alur Cultural Festival Organising Committee said the festival has grown beyond a cultural showcase to become a movement for unity and cultural identity, bringing together communities from across Uganda and beyond.
“This year’s festival is a reminder that unity is possible when culture is valued, shared, and preserved,” said Francis O. Denis, the Organising Committee Chairperson. “Through every edition, we have stayed true to our mission — to preserve, promote, and share Alur heritage proudly with the world.”
The 10th edition will feature a variety of activities including traditional music and dance, storytelling, crafts, indigenous food exhibitions, and cultural performances, all aimed at highlighting the depth and diversity of the Alur people.
Organisers also announced the launch of the Alur Cultural Dance Ensemble, a new group that will perform locally and internationally to promote Alur traditions. The initiative seeks to enhance cultural education and increase youth participation in preserving indigenous knowledge.
Now one of Northern Uganda’s most prominent cultural gatherings, the festival continues to serve as a hub for dialogue, identity, and tourism promotion.
Denis credited the festival’s growth to the leadership of His Royal Majesty Rwoth Ubimu, the Alur King, and acknowledged the support of sponsors such as Oyoma General Stores Limited and Pepsi Uganda, alongside the media and security agencies.
He extended an open invitation to people from Alurland, across Uganda, and abroad to join in the celebrations.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Nebbi on December 7 to experience the power of heritage in action,” Denis said.
The Alur Cultural Festival has over the years become a major symbol of cultural pride, tourism, and regional harmony, drawing thousands of participants and visitors to Northern Uganda.
