Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Thursday hosted regional military leaders at a dinner held at Lake Victoria Kigo, reinforcing defence ties and highlighting the importance of Pan-African military cooperation.

The dinner was held in honour of the visiting Chief of General Staff of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), Major General Zépherin Mamadou, whose visit comes amid expanding regional security partnerships aimed at stabilising fragile states and strengthening continental defence collaboration.

The event attracted senior Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) generals and heads of Ugandan security agencies, alongside regional delegations including a Kenyan team led by Lt Gen David Kepkemboi Ketter, the Commander of the Kenya Army, and a Tanzanian delegation led by Maj Gen Marco Elisha Gaguti, Chief of Personnel of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force.

During the engagements, Gen Kainerugaba and the UPDF leadership reiterated the need to deepen military cooperation among African states, emphasising the role of collective security frameworks in addressing emerging regional threats.

The dinner followed earlier high-level discussions at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe, where Major General Mamadou met the CDF and senior UPDF commanders to review ongoing bilateral defence cooperation.

During the meeting, the FACA chief commended Uganda’s military training support, noting that UPDF training programmes have played a significant role in rebuilding command structures and restoring operational capacity within the Central African armed forces after years of conflict.

Mamadou said the training support provided across specialised, junior and senior command levels has contributed to improved stability and strengthened operational effectiveness within the Central African military.
