Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Tourism Board( UTB) has recruited Francis Nyende as its substantive marketing manager.

Simplicious Gessa, the head of public relations at UTB announced on Monday that the board had recruited Nyende as the new marketing manager.

Mr.Nyende is a seasoned marketing and innovation leader with experience driving growth in East Africa’s FMCG sector. He holds a BSc in Business Statistics and an MBA, blending analytical expertise with strategic marketing insight,” Gessa said.

Starting his career in finance and accounting, Nyende later took on senior marketing roles, including Head of Innovations and Marketing Manager – Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL).

His leadership in brand and product innovation has delivered strong commercial results and market impact.

He recently completed the Journey to the Boardroom program, equipping him with board-level leadership capabilities.

“He is passionate about consumer-led innovation, building high-performing teams, and driving sustainable business growth. A tennis and golf enthusiast, Francis aspires to lead transformative businesses,” Gessa said.

As the new marketing manager, Nyende will oversee the development and implementation of Uganda’s tourism marketing strategy and destination Uganda brand manual in order to position Uganda as a tourism destination of choice in the world.

This job includes overseeing the brand strategy, coordinating advertising campaigns, and analyzing market trends.

It also includes managing data and competitor analysis to ensure a competitive advantage for Ugandan tourism

The position of marketing manager fell vacant with the dismissal of Claire Mugabi for allegedly using forged academic documents to get employment at UTB.

Uganda Tourism Board in November last year advertised for the position.
