Africa-Press – Uganda. SC Villa travels to Kitende to face Vipers in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal first leg with some bother.
In their last two meetings, they have conceded six goals in tame showings, but now in a former St Mary’s Stadium ‘insider’ Geoffrey Wasswa, the Jogoos suddenly feel reassured.
Wasswa says victory at Vipers fortress is a ‘mission possible’ for a Villa side that edged Kyetume 1-0 in the league in their last game for their first win in their new jersey.
“We go into this match with a winning mentality and we believe we can make it. A lot has changed,” Wasswa said.
The versatile defender, who was jettisoned out of Fred Kajoba’s side at the start of the season, was suspended for SC Villa’s 3-1 loss to the Venoms at Bombo a fortnight ago.
The nine-time Uganda Cup winners welcome back defender Garvin Kizito from suspension but will miss skipper Asuman Harishe, who has been banned by the club for speaking to the media about his plight.
Coach Edward Kaziba is also without Andrew Kiwanuka, Goffin Oyirwoth, Abdallah Salim and Benson Muhindo but the calm gaffer remains optimistic.
“We’ve prepared well for this game. We can’t afford to lose three on the bounce to Vipers. Uganda Cup is our only chance to win silverware this season,” he said..
