Wobusobozi Withdraws to Support Nrm'S Amanyire

Africa-Press – Uganda. One of the Masindi Municipality mayoral candidates, Peter Wobusobozi, has withdrawn from the race, citing his loyalty to the NRM party and the impressive leadership and debate skills demonstrated by the NRM flag bearer, Rogers Amanyire, during a recent local candidates’ debate.

Speaking to the media at Kolping Hotel in Masindi, Wobusobozi said he initially believed he was the strongest candidate. However, after observing Amanyire’s articulate discussion on Masindi’s issues during a debate hosted by local journalists, he gained confidence that NRM has the right candidate for the municipality.

Wobusobozi urged his supporters not to believe rumors that he had been bought out of the race, emphasizing that his decision was driven by love for the party.

“I want to ask my supporters not to lose hope. Let’s all now support NRM candidate Amanyire, who has a strong agenda for our municipality. For now, I’m stepping down, but maybe in the future we can revisit other opportunities. Take heart, and let’s grow our party,” he said.

Rogers Amanyire welcomed Wobusobozi’s decision, describing it as a voluntary move motivated by party loyalty. He encouraged other independent candidates to emulate Wobusobozi to avoid giving the opposition an advantage.

“On my end, this is a very good idea. He stepped down on his own; nothing was offered to him. My hope is that other independent candidates also step aside to strengthen the party’s chances,” Amanyire said.

Other candidates in the race include Milly Mateba (Independent), Isaac Bongomin (FDC), and Ronald Kyomuhendo (Independent, incumbent), alongside Rogers Amanyire (NRM).
