Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia National team winger Lameck Banda assisted a goal as US Lecce came from a goal down to record a 1-1 draw with Empoli. Banda set up Brazilian striker Gabriel Strefezza for Lecce’s second goal of the season in the 40th minute.

Banda made his first start for Lecce following his switch from Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva. Banda was able to vary his game, especially in the first half making runs on the line, he was also able to cut inside and shoot, release the overlapping defenders, and whip in hard crosses for his teammates.

After back-to-back single-goal margin defeats to Inter and Sassuolo, Lecce welcomed fellow bottom-half strugglers Empoli to the Stadio Via del Mare. Both sides entered the 3rd round of the Italian Serie A seeking their first win of the season but a 1-1 stalemate meant they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Empoli, who failed to get on the scoresheet in the opening two matchdays, drew first blood through Fabiano Parisi midway through the first half. The attacking-minded left-back saw his deflected effort bounce over the helpless Wladimiro Falcone in the Lecce goal.

Lecce hit back five minutes to halftime as Lameck Banda found Gabriel Strefezza on the edge of the box, whose shot ended up in the top corner. Assan Ceesay scored ten minutes from time, but it was pulled back for an offside, 1-1 the match ended.

The Zambian international put in a 7474-minute shift and tormented Lecce defenders on the left wing before being replaced by Polish forward Marcin Listkowski. Next up for Banda and his teammates is a tricky away trip to Naples to face Serie A giants Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday.
