Africa-Press – Zambia. THE Republican Progressive Party (RPP) has dismissed what it calls the ‘so-called Tonse Alliance constitution,’ branding it as irregular, absurd and dangerous for national unity.

RPP president Leslie Chikuse accused the Patriotic Front (PF) of having a long history of exclusionary politics, saying their past conduct reflected a party that prioritised membership over national interest.

Chikute recalled how, after the passing of former president Edgar Lungu, PF restricted attendance at the funeral to those vetted by the party secretariat, an act he said exposed the party’s exclusionary mindset.

“If such a mindset were allowed to govern Zambia again, teachers, doctors, nurses, or any ordinary citizen would be required to produce PF membership cards before accessing jobs and opportunities,” Chikuse warned.

The RPP leader contrasted this with President Hakainde Hichilema’s approach under the UPND Alliance, describing him as a unifier who has embraced Zambians across political divides.

He said decisions in the Alliance were made collectively with the input of civil society, the church, students, and ordinary citizens not imposed by a single individual.

Chikuse accused PF of thriving on selfishness, greed, and exclusion, reminding Zambians of the violent days when cadres dominated markets and bus stations, leaving no room for non-members.

He further dismissed the so-called Tonse Alliance as nothing more than a private contract between individuals, saying it was not a registered organisation and therefore carried no legal or political weight.

Chikuse urged Zambians to remain vigilant, insisting that PF’s divisive politics had no place in Zambia’s future…https://kalemba.news/politics/rpp-rejects-pfs-tonse-alliance-constitution/
