Hichilema: My Son Cannot Receive ZNS Salary

Africa-Press – Zambia. PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has clarified that his son, lieutenant Habwela Hichilema who was recently commissioned as a Zambia National Service officer is not receiving any salary.

Speaking during a UPND engagement in Kitwe yesterday, President Hichilema explained that he deliberately sent his son to ZNS after he graduated with a degree from the United States, not for financial gain but for discipline and personal development

He revealed that Habwela’s enrolment at ZNS was meant to instill values of hard work, endurance and survival skills, not to take up opportunities meant for other Zambians.

The Head of State disclosed that he made a decision that all his children shall have to undergo military training not for a salary but for discipline.

“I made a decision that my children will go for training for discipline not for a salary. Let me be clear here, I sent my son there after he graduated in America with a degree. I said before you talk of doing family business, first go and learn discipline at national service.”

“If you don’t have discipline, you will destroy the business. Learning how to work hard. Habwela is not there for a salary. To tell the nation today, he gets no salary, he’s not allowed to get a salary because another Zambian child must get that salary. He went there to learn things, to learn survival tools,” explained the President.

President Hichilema encouraged young people to undergo military training in order to learn discipline and survival skills.
