Kredete Secures $22M for Credit and Payments Expansion

Africa-Press – Zambia. Kredete, a Nigerian fintech startup focused on digital lending and credit access, has raised $22 million in Series A funding to scale its credit-building infrastructure and introduce stablecoin-powered transfers to African markets.

The funding round, led by global venture firms with participation from regional fintech investors, positions Kredete to tackle Africa’s persistent challenge of limited access to affordable credit.

Despite rapid growth in mobile money and digital banking, more than 350 million adults across Africa remain unbanked or underbanked, with little or no access to credit history.

“Our vision is simple: if you support your family financially, that should count toward your creditworthiness,” says Adeola Adedewe, Founder and CEO of Kredete. “We’re building a system that rewards financial responsibility across borders. This raise is about scaling that infrastructure globally — and making sure that the millions of Africans abroad are finally seen, scored, and served.”

Kredete’s platform leverages alternative data—such as mobile transactions, utility payments, and digital footprints—to create credit profiles for consumers who are often invisible to traditional banks.

With this new capital, the company plans to deepen partnerships with lenders and expand its credit score APIs for fintechs and digital banks.
