Africa-Press – Zambia. The Zambian government will recruit 6,000 additional workers in the health and education sectors next year, as outlined in the 2026 national budget.
Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane announced that 3,500 teachers and 2,500 health personnel will be added to the workforce to enhance service delivery across the country.
Presenting the budget in Parliament, Dr. Musokotwane emphasized that the move is part of the government’s commitment to improving quality services for citizens. He noted that since the UPND administration took office in 2021, over 18,000 health workers and 42,000 teachers have already been recruited.
The minister also revealed that the school feeding program will be expanded to cover all 116 districts next year, up from the current 106 districts, benefiting more than 4.6 million learners.
