Africa-Press – Zambia. Nkana Assistant coach George Chilufya says there is excitement ahead of the clubโ€™s opening fixture against traditional rivals Kabwe Warriors at Nkana Stadium today.

Nkana will today take to the field against Warriors as the 13-time champions look to continue their dominance over the Kabwe side. In the last 10 meetings at Nkana Stadium, Warriors have only managed one win over Kalampa. Kalampa are determined to see to it that it remains that way.

Chilufya who sat in for coach Beston Chambeshi in the pre-match briefing yesterday said the team is ready to take on coach George Lwandaminaโ€™s charges.

โ€œSo far so good, we did our six weeks cycle which means the team should be able to perform,โ€ Chilufya said. โ€œComing to the game, very interesting, the first fixture is always surrounded with a lot of emotions and anxiety. Everyone is excited about the game on Sunday.โ€

Chilufya said the aim is to put a smile on the fansโ€™ faces. โ€œWe have no option but to put a smile on our fansโ€™ faces because they are eager to see how the team will perform but I can assure them that we are very much ready for the game.

โ€œThis one of those games, we have agreed that we take each game as it comes, we have planned for Warriors and we hope to see a good performance coupled with a good result,โ€ Chilufya said. Meanwhile, skipper Diamond Chikwekwe described todayโ€™s game as an important match.

โ€œVery interesting fixture, the first game is always important and we shall go into it with full concentration and everything that is required to carry the day and I am very confident that we will carry the day,โ€ Chikwekwe said.

This will be the 11th minute between Warriors and Nkana since 2017. EslIn the last 10 meetings, Kalampa has managed six wins against Warriorsโ€™ one victory while three matches have ended in a stalemate. Newcomers Nchanga Rangers will host Buildcon in the other match of the day.
