Africa-Press – Zambia. They need to let the public know why this move is necessary. Lusaka has become chimbichimbi [ something else ] There’s no time to play around. They just need to tell the people of Lusaka that they’ve made a firm decision to take control of the process of allocating booths within the CBD.
🔸️ The demolished booths have to be taken to Chunga dumpsite so that the City is not stuck with damaged booths littered all around the city. Transport them to Chunga dumpsite.
🔸️ Start a new registration process that will only allow one person to register one booth…unlike the previous arrangement where ONE person owned 20 booths but only 4 were operational.
🔸️ The service providers MTN, ZAMTEL AND AIRTEL must design a neat attractive booth for the sake of uniformity and the agents should only buy the booths from the service provider. The agents should NOT be allowed to make their own booths.
🔸️ The council has to be in charge of allocation. Party Cadres should not be allowed anywhere near the process. A booth should not be placed on the side walk…it should not obstruct motorists and they should not block shops or buildings.
🔸️ Each road should have a quota [ a specific number] of booths and they should be evenly spaced. Booths should not be squeezed together on one area.
🔸️The council should collect rent from booths via electronic transfer NOT CASH.
🔸️Each booth operator should be responsible for their surroundings. The area around the booth should be clean at all times and there should be a bin next to each booth.
