Africa-Press – Zambia. Here’s why President Hakainde Hichilema has a very weak team, that’s constantly bringing his decision making ability into question…with his so called methodical approach, he chose people for their sobriety, or absence of a visible weakness, instead of their tested ability to execute and lead. Maybe he should’ve drawn some lessons from Abraham Lincoln….during the American Civil War of 1861 – 1865, Lincoln was getting defeated by Robert E Lee, and wanted to change Army Leadership.

Top amongst his options was Ulysses Grant, an astute military officer and known Alcoholic from Ohio, who later served as 18th President of the US. Pundits criticized Lincoln for lack of moral judgment in picking Grant, a known Alcoholic.

Lincoln’s rebuttal was bold and uncharacteristic: “if I knew his favorite alcoholic brand, I’d send a barrel or so to some other generals.” Abe chose Grant because he was the only one of all the generals with Proven ability to consistently Plan and Win campaigns.

Zambia has more qualified people than this bunch of novices in government today….and the President needs to realize that strong people always have strong weaknesses too; where there’re peaks, there’re valleys too. Leaders are judged by the quality of their Teams.
