Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia U17 Men’s National Team coach Ian Bakala has named a final 20 member squad for the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifier to be held next month.
Bakala has named a squad with the majority of players who took part in the UEFA U-16 Invitational tournament in Georgia played earlier this year. Nkana tricky youngster Emmanuel Mutale leads the squad alongside Atletico Lusaka lanky forward Marcel Zimba.
Sporting Lusaka’s Sekanji Siame makes the team while Taonga Mkandawire makes a return to the team after a one year absence. Atletico Lusaka trio of midfield aces Joseph Liteta, Aaron Phiri and Kelvin Phiri have all made the squad.
The Qualifier will be played at the Region 5 Games, Lilongwe 2022 and will run from December 2-11, and the two finalists will qualify for the junior Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Algeria next year.
Prior to commencement of the training camp, the candidates underwent the requisite Magnetic Imaging Resonance (MRI) as part of the tournament regulations.
