Africa-Press – Zambia. After an increase in the fuel pump price , bus fares have been reviewed upwards with effect from today. Last week the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) announced an increase by K1.20 for petrol and K3.04 for diesel with effect from October 1st.
Road Traffic Safety Agency (RTSA) public relations manager, Mukelwa Mangolwa said bus fares have been increased following an upward adjustment of petrol and diesel.
“From the foregoing the new fares are Inter- mine route K2.00, Intercity route 5 percent, Copperbelt Local routes K1.00, Lusaka Local routes K1.00 and Lusaka Peri-urban Routes K1.50,” he said.
He added that the fares were arrived at following consultation with the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ), the Commuter Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) and the Public passenger Transport Drivers Association of Zambia (PPTDAZ). Meanwhile, in line the hike in fuel pump prices, bus fares have also been reviewed upwards.
