Africa-Press – Zambia. Chipangali DACO and six others arrested for allegedly stealing 24 bags of fertilizer under FISP. Police in Chipangali district have arrested Chipangali District Agricultural Officer Fredrick Mwansa and six others for allegedly stealing 24 bags of fertilizer and being found in possession of cash money amounting to over 41,000 Kwacha,Community Indepth News reports.

Eastern Province Acting Police Commanding Officer Davies Simwanza confirmed to Journalists this morning. Mr. Simwanza says Chipangali District Commissioner Paul Sakala reported on behalf of the state that an Agricultural Camp Officer for Sisinje ward Twambo Moonga stole 139 bags of the Farmer Input Support Program FISP fertilizer meant for farmers in Sisinje ward, the value which is yet to be established.

He says police launched investigations and arrested Twambo Moonga, Agricultural Camp Officer, Fredrick Mwansa, Chipangali District Agricultural Officer, Ackim Tembo, Charles Zulu, Werington Phiri, Zondwayo Zulu and Yotamu Nyirongo.

Mr. Simwanza says the suspects led to the recovery of the FISP fertilizers, comprsing 7 bags of UREA, 17 bags of D compound and cash money amounting to 41,550 Kwacha as proceeds of crime.

He says the incident occurred on February 17th around 23 hours at give way area in Chipangali District. He says investigations are still under way. Source: Community In Depth News:
