Africa-Press – Zambia. The power utility, ZESCO has been told to formulate plans to connect more people to the national grid. ZESCO recently announced that it has generated a power surplus of over 1000MW.
However, watchers say the power utility should put more people on the grid. Former National Energy Sector Allied Workers Union Secretary General Yotamu Mtayachalo says the surplus should be reflected by more people put on the grid. He warned against tariffs hikes saying such moves undermine vision 2030. ZESCO is planning to export electricity to Namibia and Zimbabwe.
