Africa-Press – Zambia. Diamond TV’s Senior Manager and Head of Content, Dingindaba Jonah Buyoya, has officially joined the BBC World Service, marking a major milestone in his already illustrious media career.
Confirming the development, Diamond TV Chief Visionary Officer Costa Mwansa hailed Buyoya’s journey at the station as a story of relentless commitment, creativity, and leadership.
“Dingindaba has been instrumental in shaping Diamond TV’s identity since its formative years,” Costa Mwansa said. “He started with us as a news anchor, producer, and presenter, and later rose to Senior Manager for Content, a role in which he drove many of our groundbreaking projects. His passion for impactful storytelling and uncompromising pursuit of excellence have set the bar high for our entire team.”
Mwansa added that despite his move to the BBC, Buyoya will maintain ties with Diamond Media as a correspondent and consultant, continuing to contribute to the brand he helped build.
A recipient of the 2022 BBC News Komla Dumor Award, which celebrates exceptional African journalists who embody the spirit of the late Ghanaian broadcaster Komla Dumor, Buyoya is widely regarded as one of Zambia’s most dynamic young media professionals.
In 2024, he made waves after revealing that he had previously declined an offer from the BBC to remain at Diamond TV, a decision that underscored his loyalty and belief in the Zambian media landscape.
With his new role at the BBC, based in Kenya, Buyoya now steps onto a global stage, taking his storytelling craft and Zambia’s journalistic excellence to the world.
