Africa-Press – Zambia. United Party for National Development(UPND)National Women’s Chairlady Doreen Mwamba has urged women in the party to rally behind Kaumbwe Constituency candidature Esnart Sakala. And Mrs Mwamba says President Hakainde Hichilema is committed to promote women’s participation in politics and governance issues.
She adds that it is a duty of all well meaning members of the party especially women to support, protect and love the party by conducting ‘continuous mobilisation programme countrywide’.
“Let’s meet on the ground in Kaumbwe constituency to support and ensure that we add another woman in Parliament on 21st October 2021.
“President Hakainde Hichilema is most grateful for the unwavering support of women in his ascending leadership.
I want to thank you all most sincerely for the love and sacrifices rendered for the victory of our President Hichilema and the party during the just ended general elections.
It was not easy as l moved countywide to campaign amidst political intimidation by the PF but we crossed over and here we are to implement UPND policies and victory again in 2026″
This time we campaign for Esnart Sakala in the new dawn with a new Republican President in state house let’s be more united and forced.” Mrs Mwamba said.
The UPND National women’s Chairlady said this when she interacted with Lusaka Province UPND women at the Party’s National Secretariat in Lusaka, Sunday.
Speaking earlier, UPND Lusaka Province Chairlady Rosa Zulu said the women in the party are elated with President Hakainde Hichilema”s ministerial appointment of Mrs Mwamba.
“‘We are happy with your ministerial position and we sing a celebratory song for you. It was at this point that the women went to the audience to dance for joy and later presented her a gift.
Meanwhile, the UPND National Women’s Chairlady reaffirmed her committment to ensure the party is the best choice. “Women there is no time to rest. Politics is on the ground let us continue to interact with our people.
President Hichilema knows all your needs and you will be happy. This will be according to your skills and abilities, continue believing we are there for the service”Mrs Mwamba assured.
