Africa-Press – Zambia. COUSIN of the late Dr Tasila Tembo has told the Lusaka High Court that the latter received threatening messages on WhatsApp from her lover Nigel Mwaba.
Mulubwa Sokontwe narrated that according to the messages, Lieutenant Mwaba told Dr Tasila that she did not deserve to live and that he threatened to expose her nudity on the premise that she was promiscuous.
In this matter, Lt Mwaba, an army officer is accused of murdering Dr Tembo between October 24 and 26, 2020 after she decided to end their relationship. Testifying before High Court judge Wilfred Muma, Sokontwe said on October 24, 2020 Dr Tasila had visited her at her home around 15:00 hours.
She said whilst conversing Dr Tasila showed her a cautioning message which she received from her possessive lover. “She showed me WhatsApp messages Mwaba sent to her. The messages read: “I will make sure you go; I know you have moved on with another man you don’t deserve to live. I will make sure I post your nude photos so that people can see what kind of a woman you are.”
She added that after their heart-to-heart conversation, Dr Tasila kissed her goodbye and she only learnt of her death few days later. “We ate supper, my nephew Katongo Mandona and Lonjezo (brother of the deceased) came with Dr Tasila’s car to pick her up. I asked her if she was ok to leave for Kasama and she said she would be fine. She kissed me and went to her house in Meanwood. I never saw her after that; I heard that she was dead and we buried her at Memorial Park in October 2020,” narrated Sokontwe.
During cross examination by Lt Mwaba’s lawyers Mauyaneyi Maribesa and Dr O’Brien Kaaba, the witness confirmed that Dr Tasila and her lover frequently visited her home.
She admitted that the pair was always happy to which she approved of their relationship and recommended that they tied the knot. Sokontwe also admitted that Dr Tasila was not a type of woman who could get nude pictures and send them to men.
