Dumisani vs Chairman James Ndambo

Africa-Press – Zambia. In the last 2 weeks running up to his Masterclass, Dumisani L. Ncube has been making headlines some to an extent of casting aspersions on him. Allow me to add some thought to the topic of entrepreneurs and motivational speakers.

Dumisani Lingamangali Ncube the Radical Entreprenuer as he calls himself is both an entreprenuer and a motivational speaker a good combination. The now very famous Mr Ndambo a very successful and wealthy businessman who has made several donations in the last week and hosted a beauty pageant bigger in prize value than all the Miss Zambias ever held, put together.

Majority of the commentators said such are the people to give Entrepreneurship Masterclasses and not Dumisani. I have a slightly different thought. Dumisani’s act might probably provoke a thought that can help you become an entrepreneur (learn how to fish) while Chairman is giving you fish in form of money, cars, facilities etc..

You cannot compare the 2 of course, Chairman is champions league. However, there is a large audience that needs Dumisani’s kind of talk. Zambia needs more of a mindset change.

Chairman’s gifts have just raised more beggers than a motivated people. Individuals and institutions are now appealing to him to as a saving grace. Between an entreprenuership conference and a beauty pageant, what is of more benefit?

Between a chat on how to make K50,000 and watching someone donate $50,000 what is of more benefit? Between paying K100 to listen to Dumisani’s “little motivation or provokation” and spending your bundles praising Chairman’s generosity, what is of more benefit?

Have you learnt how Chairman has made his money? What inspires you about Chairman? There is a large audience that needs Dumisani’s level of motivation and entreprenuerial knowledge and there is also an audience that needs lessons from Chairman.

Let me make my point. We need both individuals because they will inspire someone most definitely albeit differently. What we need the most is a mind shifting conversation not open arms or begging bowls.
