Africa-Press – Zambia. The Non Governmental Gender Organisation’s Coordination Council (NGOCC) has condemned sexist comments made by Chilubi legislator Mulenga Fube against Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo.
Fube raised a point in parliament recently, saying Masebo’s dressing was unsettling male members of the house. However, NGOCC chairperson Mary Mulenga says such comments are unfortunate and sexist in nature, adding that Masebo did not violate dress code.
She says Fube’s sentiments reduces female Members of Parliament to mere sex objects. Mulenga says the unfortunate comments by Fube have potential to discourage women from vying for parliamentary seats.
