Africa-Press – Zambia. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba may soon find himself squeezing his hefty body between prison inmates should he continue absconding court hearings, the Economic and Financial Crimes Court has warned.
Mwamba also known GBM could not open defense in his 24 criminal charges this morning as he was reported ill. His lawyer Bonaventure Mutale told magistrate Stanford Ngobola that his client was bed ridden at Medlands Hospital and his doctor advised that he be given a five-day bed rest.
Magistrate Ngobolo was dismayed that Mwamba is delaying the case. “Am warning the defense and also the accused, if this continues I will revoke his bail and remand him in custody,” said magistrate Ngobola
He adjourned the matter to March 16. Mwamba is facing eight counts of conflict of interest, one count of money laundering and 15 counts of possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
