Africa-Press – Zambia. President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Government is working to reduce the number of licences required for people to open businesses.
President HICHILEMA says this is meant to lower the cost of doing business in the country.
The Head of State says he is aware that citizens are required to obtain too many licences before establishing businesses.
President HICHILEMA was speaking when he officially opened the 2025 National MSMEs and Cooperatives Indaba in Lusaka.
And the President has urged Small and Medium Enterprises to focus on the domestic market and refine their products before venturing into larger markets such as the African Continental Free Trade Area -AfCFTA.
The President said the packaging of products exhibited this year at the SME Indaba has greatly improved compared to last year, adding that Government remains committed to driving value addition.
President HICHILEMA said he was pleased to see precious and semi-precious stones being processed into Jewelry during the exhibition.
Meanwhile, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Minister ELIAS MUBANGA said MSMEs remain key drivers of wealth and job creation.
