Greek Orthodox Church Erects Statue in honour of KK

Africa-Press – Zambia. First President KENNETH KAUNDA’s son, TILYENJI KAUNDA has urged young people not to be used as tools of political violence.

Mr. KAUNDA says young people should take after his Father’s ideals of peace and unity.

Speaking during commemoration of Dr. KAUNDA’s birthday organised by the Greek Orthodox Church of Zambia, Mr. KAUNDA said there is need for Zambians to reconcile and unite for the betterment of the country.

At the same event , Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson MWANGALA ZALOUMIS said the house in Lusaka’s Kalundu area where Dr. KAUNDA was put on house arrest must be turned into a national heritage.

The House now also hosts the Greek Orthodox Church in the same compound.

The Church has put up a statue at the house in honor of Dr. KAUNDA.

And Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Permanent Secretary ETAMBUYU GUNDERSEN has thanked the Greek Church for honoring Dr. KAUNDA.

Ms. GUNDERSEN also thanked the Church for erecting the KAUNDA statue.

And Greek Orthodox Church General Vilar of Zambia Father ARSENIO JAMALI who spoke on behalf of the president of Hellenic Republic KONSTANTINOS TOSSOULAS, said Dr. KAUNDA played an important role in the liberation struggle.
