Africa-Press – Zambia. The government has given mining companies operating illegally a 90 day ultimatum to regularise their operations. Speaking during media briefing today Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe said those found wanting after the window period will be taken to court.
Kabuswe said the decision was arrived at during the recent cabinet meeting. He maintained that the mining firms will be confined to the initial 5 licence. The minister added that those who want more should justify. Mining is one of the key drivers of the Zambian economy, anchored mainly on copper.
