Africa-Press – Zambia. Athletico Lusaka midfielder Charles Majapa Mumba has been named as the best player of the TotalEnergies U20 AFCON Egypt 2023 | COSAFA Qualifier. Mumba was influential for the Zambia U-20 national team as they cruised to the title and on the sealing qualification for the AFCON set for Egypt in 2023.
Mumba was named the player of the match in Sunday’s final and has played in all of Zambia’s five games at the tournament. Goalkeeper Jeban Tembo, won the Golden Glove. Tembo kept four clean sheets and only conceded one goal throughout the tournament.
Angolan striker Denilson Makokisa walked away with the golden boot for his five goals. The Fair Play award went to South Africa. Record title-holders, Zambia claimed their 12th regional trophy with a 1-0 victory over defending champions Mozambique.
Kings Mutandwa scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute to seal the title triumph for Chisi Mbewe’s men. Goalkeeper of the tournament – Jeban Tembo Player of the tournament- Charles Majapa Mumba Top goalscorer of the tournament – Denilson Makokisa Fair Play Award – South Africa.
