A PATRIOTIC Front supporter Maxwell Chongu has pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding Contrary to section 232(a) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. This is a matter in which Chongu is accused of inflicting deep cuts on Richard Sinonge and Innocent Nyambe.
When the matter appeared yesterday for plea in the Lusaka Magistrate Court before Magistrate Nthandose Chabala, Chongu aged 40 of house number 1223 Sugar Street Avondale denied the charge.
It is alleged that on 4th March 2017, Chongu allegedly unlawfully wounded Richard Sinonge aged 37 by inflicting a deep cut on his left ankle and Innocent Nyambe aged 32 a deep cut on the stomach whilst using a machete.
The two victims were attacked by the accused in North-mead area near Total filling Station in Lusaka. Magistrate Chabala therefore, set February 22, 2022 for mention and March 18 for commencement of trial.
