Africa-Press – Zambia. CIVIL Society Organisations (CSOs) have called for inclusiveness in the formulation of the 2022 Mineral Resources Development Policy. Last month, Government approved the implementation of the policy to stir growth in the industry.
Publish What You Pay Zambia (PWYPZ) national coordinator Nsama Chikwanka called for wider consultation in the development of the policy. In a statement, Mr Chikwanka said information on the consultative process should be made available to enable stakeholders to participate in the exercise.
He raised concern over the manner in which the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development was conducting the consultation process. “The draft was not available prior to consultations, the process was inadequately funded, among others.
