NIRVANA INSTITUTE STUDENTS IN MUFULIRA THREATENED TO BEAT INSTITUTION DIRECTOR ELIAS MUNUNGA DURING PROTEST

Africa-Press – Zambia. Some students from Nirvana institute of heavy equipment and Technology in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt yesterday, March, 14, 2023, staged a protest calling on the institution to improve in the manner it has been offering learning services to its students which they described as pathetic.

Videos circulating on Social media depict some students allegedly threatening to harm the Director of the Institution, Elias Mununga purporting that, he has been swindling students and using the Constituency Development Fund-CDF- money given to the institution for his personal advantage.

But reacting to this in an exclusive interview with Mafken FM Radio, Nirvana Institute Director, Elias Mununga has dispelled these assertions, stating that the students in question are from Kawambwa district in Luapula Province who had a problem with the way the timetable for practical’s was created in that they wanted to be in group A instead of group C where they were allocated to and thus resorted to violence after their request to change was denied.

Mr. Mununga says the police were notified and the Kawambwa Town Council permitted the institution to have the 4 unruly students expelled. He further claims that, the false story circulating on social media is politically motivated and it has been going on for a very long time.

He alleges that some Mufulira Councillors and Ward Development Committee members are working against the institution to drive their own agenda to see to it that his institutions fails.
