PD20 is back…Patson Daka handed jersey 20 at Leicester City

Africa-Press – Zambia. Chipolopolo forward Patson Daka has finally been handed his favorite jersey number 20 at Leicester City ahead of the 2022/2023 English Premier League season.

Daka was initially handed jersey number 29 after completing his switch from Austrian giants, Redbull Salzburg. Hamza Choudhury who had the ‘lucky 20’ has swapped to No.29.

Meanwhile Goalkeeper Danny Ward will wear the No.1 shirt following Kasper Schmeichel’s switch to OGC Nice earlier this week. Daka has been in fine form in preparation for the season and has found the net three times during friendly fixtures this summer.

The Zambian international will be looking to improve on his first season in England. Daka scored eleven goals and made four assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes.

Daka also made history last season when he became the first man to net three goals in a single game for Leicester City on the European stage in the 4-3 win over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Europa League.

His fourth goal in that game meant Daka became the first City player to score four goals in a single game since Derek Hines in a 6-3 victory over Aston Villa in November 1958.

UEFA later confirmed that Daka’s 9- minute hat-trick was the fastest in the history of the Competition. The Foxes start the 2022/23 Premier League season at home against Brentford on Sunday at 15:00hrs central African time.
