Africa-Press – Zambia. Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary Ponga Liwewe has been appointed as the new NAPSA Stars Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
Liwewe has signed an initial three year deal with the Super League newcomers, the Pensioners. The former FAZ CEO was unveiled on Monday afternoon at NAPSA Sports and Recreation Center. Liwewe was welcomed to the Zambia Super League newcomers by Board Chairman John Chundu who believes this addition will add value to the club.
“We are very excited to welcome Mr. Liwewe to the NAPSA Stars family as our new club CEO. We are confident as a club that this is a very good appointment looking at the football and marketing background Mr. Liwewe has,
“With our club looking at working on the area of financial sustainability, I am confident this is indeed a great appointment,” Chundu said. Liwewe has thanked NAPSA for the opportunity and has set his sights on the league title in the three years he will be at the club.
“I want to thank NAPSA the company for engaging me, they have a huge vision for football and have delivered as a company so it is only right that the club reflects the number position of the company so as a club that’s our target as well,” he said.
“We have won a few Cup Competitions but our ambition is to go for the league and hopefully in the three years I have been engaged that is one of our targets. We believe we have potential to do that.”
“We have a young coaching team and a young team and we have all the support from the main company and am confident we as NAPSA will be making a huge impact on the Zambian game,” he added. The Pensioners are set for their 2022/23 MTN Super League campaign having won promotion from the Eden National Division One League last season.
