Africa-Press – Zambia. SUSPECTED United Party for National Development (UPND) have allegedly assaulted three Patriotic Front (PF) members in Kaoma. The cadres have also allegedly
caused damage to a PF office by breaking 13 window panes, and burnt 15 wooden chairs, six wooden benches and one wooden table. In a statement issued, Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said police have since instituted investigations in the matter.
‘Police in Kaoma of Western Province are investigating reports of Malicious Damage to Property and Assault OABH which occurred in the early hours of today 23rd June, 2021 at about 02 20 hours, in which male Mbangweta Liyoko aged 37 years of Mungongo area also a Vice Chairperson of the Patriotic Front (PF) in Kaoma District, reported that suspected UPND party cadres attacked them from their office where they were sleeping,” she said.
Mrs Katongo said in the process the suspected UPND cadres caused damage to a PF office by breaking 13 window panes, and burnt 15 wooden chairs, six wooden Benches and one wooden Table leaving three occupants namely male Doctor Mundred, Mambo Emmanuel and Newton Likando with injuries. She said machetes and stones are alleged to have been used in the act. Mrs Katongo said no arrests have been made yet.
