Africa-Press – Zambia. I am not interested in how or who President Hichilema appoints as long as they fall in his criteria, Zambian and they can deliver, though if I were the President I would add that they are not corrupt and have some basic morality (not runaway husbands and father, they should care for families).

My concern, however, is on lack of clarity on some people announced to have been appointed yet no official communication has been given. My ideal situation is that Presidential appointments are supposed to be communicated by the Presidential Spokesperson and not the overzealous Alliance partner Spokesperson or indeed party Spokesperson.

So far, the Public is discussing the appointment of Chipo Mwanawasa without an official statement. Some social media blogger are now saying, President Hakainde Hichilema was considering and earmarked the position of Special Assistant for Policy to renowned Policy expert, Michelle Morrel but the presidential advisors tried to sabotage the appointment by prematurely announcing that the apprentice, Chipokota, had been appointed.

Michelle founded PMRC as a Policy think-tank. The other week we had Clayson Hamasaka being congratulated as having been appointed as Director of Media yet there is no such position in the current State House functions structure.

I know the President can create any position as he deems it fit, but it must be announced accordingly. It will certainly be good to get some clarity from State House to avoid people just coming up and appointing whoever they want or claim to have been appointed.

This can be very dangerous because fraudulent people might take advantage of this situation and crook people to be part of the Presidency when in fact not.

This is how President Lungu’s Presidency was abused, because cadres started using the Presidency to gain some advantages and benefits. TAYALI EEP PRESIDENT
