UPND cadres sued for accusing Lubinda of killing late UPND Kabwata MP PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Acting President Given Lubinda is demanding K100,000.00 from United Party FOR National Development (UPND) officials Mr. Matomola Likwanya and Mr. Mainda Simataa as damages for accusing him of killing former Kabwata Constituency Member of Parliament, Levy Mkandawire and engaging in corrupt activities.
Through his lawyers, Mr. Lubinda said these accusations are injurious and have damaged his reputation in society. He said his reputation has been dented in society as he has been portrayed as a murderer and corrupt person.
The Acting President said Mr. Likwanya and Mr. Simataa must pay the damages including 10 percent collection fee in four days and failure to which legal action will be taken against them.
“We have been referred to act for Hon.Given Lubinda in relation to the special interview you had on Muvi Television on January 4, 2022.The facts of this interview are well known to yourselves. Our client however has informed us that during the said interview you maliciously attacked our client’s reputation and accused him of having committed crimes despite the interviewer advising yourselves to refrain from maligning our client’’.
“We are informed that both of you accused our client by his association to the Patriotic Front party of having killed Honourable Levy Mkandawire, the immediate past Member of Parliament for Kabwata Constituency,” part of the letter said.
Mr. Lubinda has also demanded that the duo must apologise publicly through the same Muvi Television special interview. The PF Acting President has also urged Mr. Simataa to apologise for accusing him that he manipulated Lusaka City Council to grant him lease for the land. Mr. Lubinda said the two will face the law if they will not do as directed.
